Composting Chamber
A composting chamber is designed to convert excreta and organics into compost. In composting toilets, faeces or excreta fall into a composting chamber together with cleansing material. Dry organic material such as sawdust is added to adjust moisture content and C/N ratio in order to obtain optimum conditions for thermophilic composting. Organic household waste can also be added for co-composting. Depending on the process, shorter or longer maturation periods and maybe also secondary treatment are required.
