Channelling

Channelling occurs, when a flow in a reactor does not follow the prospected flow schema, but directly flows from the inlet to the outlet without mixing with the rest of the reactor content. In water purification and treatment units, this results in a non-respect of the hydraulic retention time and in consequence insufficient treatment.
