The STEP Africa is a key capacity development tool for the public and private sector working within and beyond the water and sanitation sector initiating, planning, carrying out and following-up WASH (Water, Sanitation and Health) initiatives in the African context. It has the following objectives:
- To be an entry point to the SSWM Toolbox for Sub-Saharan African users
- To complement and expand the thematic focus of the SSWM Toolbox
- To support knowledge management and capacity development in SSWM in Africa
- To promote holistic thinking of the WASH sector in Sub-Saharan Africa
- To support the creation of an enabling environment towards SSWM in Sub-Saharan Africa
- To strengthen the capacities of the public and business sector
- To strengthen the multi-stakeholder dialogue within public, private practitioners and decision makers
