Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project of the World Bank in Morocco sought to reduce the “burden of girls who were traditionally involved in fetching water”. In the six provinces, where the project was based, the time spent collecting water by women and young girls was reduced by 50 to 90 per cent. Due in part to more convenient access to water, girls’ school attendance increased by 20 per cent in four years. These two case studies are not specifically about WASH and GBV.
